201 dead, many trapped in Turkish coal mine

SOMA, Turkey (AP) — Rescuers desperately raced against time to reach more than 200 miners trapped underground Wednesday after an explosion and fire at a coal mine in western Turkey killed at least 201 workers, authorities said, in one of the worst mining disasters in Turkish history.

All 20,000 evacuation orders off in San Diego fire

SAN DIEGO (AP) — A wildfire that surged amid high heat and dry winds in drought conditions brought evacuation orders for more than 20,000 homes in and around San Diego, but all residents were told they could return home Tuesday night just a few hours later as cooler, calmer darkness fell.

Pimco outflows dent Allianz asset management earnings
