WASHINGTON (Reuters) – The United States military on Wednesday confirmed it had launched five airstrikes targeting Islamic State militants in Syria and Iraq, U.S. Central Command said in a statement.
One strike hit northwest of Al Qa’im in Syria, it said. In Iraq, two strikes hit southeast of Irbil and two were west of Baghdad.
The strikes used various attack, bomber and fighter aircraft, and all aircraft were able to leave the area safely afterward, according to the statement.
