KUALA LUMPUR: Shares on Bursa Malaysia turned mixed at mid-day today in line with regional markets and following the drop on Wall Street last week, dealers said.
At lunch break, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) stood at 1,842.86, up 2.36 points, after opening better at 1,841.05.
However, market breadth was negative as losers outpaced gainers 343 to 335, while 363 counters were unchanged, 590 untraded and 38 others suspended.
Volume stood at 1.47 billion shares worth RM773.05 million.
On the scoreboard, the Finance Index rose 38.391 points to 17,183.16 and the Industrial Index gained 3.03 points to 3,211.02. But, the Plantation Index fell 20.55 points to 8,396.15.
The FBM Emas Index was 13.82 points higher at 12,910.87, the FBM 70 increased 3.74 points to 14,317.75, the FBMT100 Index rose 12.87 points to 12,490.62 and the FBM ACE bagged 14.81 points for 7,307.97.
Of the heavyweights, Maybank rose three sen to RM9.88 and Public Bank gained four sen to RM18.94, while Tenaga Nasional was flat at RM12.28.
Among actives, Berjaya Corp added one sen to 58 sen, PDZ Holdings slipped one sen to 30 sen and Takaso improved 1.5 sen to 61 sen.
The top gainers were Press Metal-Wc which rose 36 sen to RM4.15, while Lafarge Malaysia increased 28 sen to RM10.56 and Aeon Credit advanced 22 sen to RM15.56.– Bernama
